The Future Hope in Vaggeryd
Waggeryds IK wants to broaden its activities and increase the influence of its members.
About the project
The sports club in Vaggeryd, Waggeryds IK, has the project idea to develop its operations by hiring a club developer. They primarily have three areas they want to focus on in the project:
Democracy work
Democracy work is especially important because studies show that the influence of club members affects how long one wants to stay in a club. To get started, Waggeryds IK has conducted surveys, held meetings, and interviewed the club's members. Through the project, they will continue to develop their democracy work in the club through, among other things, training for leaders, players, and guardians. They will also establish a youth council so that the opinions of children and young people are taken into account in the club.
Broaden the activities
The club wants to continue developing recreational sports for people over 65 years old as well as recreational sports for all ages (for example, training for guardians while their children train in football and bandy). This will include, among other things, boules, tennis, pickleball, recreational football, training groups, and group training. They are also exploring the possibility of starting a special recreational section.
Start parasport
In Vaggeryd municipality, there has previously been a weak offering when it comes to parasport. Part of the project is for Waggeryds IK to start parasport activities.
From the application
”It is time for us at Waggeryds IK to take the next step. In this unique initiative, we are making a larger re-approach that will likely create significant added value for many of the municipality's residents.”

The board's motivation
The over 100-year-old sports club is offensively aiming for the future with a development project for its operations, both in breadth and in club democracy. Collaboration with other associations is a potential that should also be tested to further strengthen the project. The initiative develops the association life throughout the Leader area by serving as a good example of development opportunities.
