Meeting place for young adults
The company that wants to be part of the solution – starts projects for young people.
About the project
Gislaved municipality's youth study shows that many young people feel there is nothing to do and that they do not feel at home in their own town. In Smålandsstenar, there are no natural places to meet in the evenings and on weekends, especially for the target group that has reached high school age and is approaching adulthood. But Smålandsstenar Hotel & Conference has a solution: A new meeting place!
The idea is to open up on special youth evenings for young people who want to hang out, meet others, and feel a sense of belonging. An important part of the project is that it is the young people themselves who will be involved in shaping the meeting place. They will design a range and run the sales themselves with support in the form of coaching in entrepreneurship, sales, and business.
The project will ultimately contribute to ”a stronger and more vibrant community where young adults feel they have a natural place, right in the village, in the midst of young life.” The hope is that the meeting place will continue to thrive and be run by young people, or as part of youth activities, after the project's conclusion.
The Leader support will go towards, among other things, a billiard table, chessboard, and popcorn machine.
From the application
”Our goal is to create an environment where young people feel seen, welcome, and safe. A place that is both relaxed and inspiring, and where one can be part of the adult world in a positive way.”

The board's motivation
The project idea demonstrates innovation, courage, and a positive view of young people. A ”meeting place for young adults” with a door into the adult world in an established central environment. The hotel opens up for young people who have outgrown the youth center but are too young for the adult nightlife. The project creates both activity and opportunities for young people and may become a role model for several urban areas with similar conditions and structures.
